NEWS, a 6-year-old girl and her parents are shot after a basketball enters a man's yard in North Carolina.

An enraged neighbor who fired at them when a basketball rolled into his yard on Tuesday night shot a 6-year-old North Carolina girl and her parents, according to a report. According to WSOC-TV, Kinsley White, her mother Ashley Hilderbrand, and father William White were all injured when a shooter opened fire in Gaston County at around 8 p.m. because he was upset with the bouncing ball. William White suffered a catastrophic injury while defending his daughter.

The alleged shooter's yard was entered when a group of children were playing basketball, according to neighbors who spoke to the station. Robert Louis Singletary, the suspected shooter, allegedly fired shots at a neighbor while running down the street in a rage.

After that, he returned and started firing at the family, striking the small daughter, who required stitches after being hit in the face by bullet fragments, according to WSOC-TV. Before being shot in the back, he apparently attempted to attract gunfire toward him to protect his children. Kinsley told the broadcaster, "We don't even know the man," adding, "Why did you shoot my dad and me? Why did you kill a child's father? According to WSOC-TV, Hilderbrand was grazed by a bullet and is recuperating at home with her kid.
